The First Bites Bash, which takes place 6-9 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Field Museum, will feature more than bites and drinks from more than 65 local chefs and restaurants, including Host Chef Joe Flamm (Spiaggia); proceeds will benefit Pilot Light, a local nonprofit devoted to food education for school-age kids. Tickets, $125, are available at choosechicago.com.

Cantina Beach's Fresh Guacamole

 (Makes Four Servings)

6 Haas Avocados

1 1/2 tbs Fresh Lime Juice

1/2 bunch Cilantro

1/2 Red Onion

1/4 Jalapeno (mild, add more for extra spice) 

1 Tomato 

Salt/Pepper - to taste

Grated Queso Fresco (Mexican Cheese) to sprinkle on top

 

Mix ingredients in a Mexican Molcajete

(the Mexican mortar and pestle made from a rough rock) or large bowl. 

Serve with your favorite tortilla chips!
