Virgin Voyages' New Circle Program for Groups and Corporate Incentives

In the world of corporate travel, Virgin Voyages understands that sometimes you just need a little more to sweeten the deal. Got it.

To make Virgin Voyages a little more brilliant to do business with, there will be some additions coming to the standard group offer.

1.) Sailor Loot- every cabin in the circle will receive a gift of non-refundable Sailor Loot (onboard credit) to spend however they wish onboard based on the cabin category:

  • Insider & Sea View cabins earn $50 per cabin

  • Sea Terrace cabins earn $100 per cabin

  • Suites (Rock Star & Mega Rock Star) earn $200 per cabin

In lieu of sailor loot, corporate groups can select the option of a pre-funded Master Account. The Master Account earns the same breakdown above, and gives the company control on how they wish to use the funds onboard. The Master Account must be used during the voyage and cannot be redeemed for cash.

2.) Circle Voyage Credit- will be offered in conjunction with Sailor Loot or a Master Account. For every 10 cabins sold, the Circle will earn a 10% voyage credit (based on the voyage fare) that accumulates, and can be applied in the defined forms below:

  • Credit can be spent in part, or in total toward a new cabin in the Circle

  • Credit can be applied as a reduction of voyage fare across any of the purchased cabins in the Circle

  • Can be set up as a pre-funded Master Account onboard during the voyage that can be used as the group desires. If a Master Account was initially selected this would option would allow additional funds added to the Account.

3.) One Cocktail Party- one hour in length, is included for corporate groups. A selection of hot and cold canapes, along with premium labels for cocktail hour are offered. Venues and times to be determined by Virgin Voyages.

The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ fleet is set to operate without heavy fuel oil

From July 2020 onwards, the global fleet of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will use marine gas oil with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1 % (LS-MGO) exclusively. In doing so, the company will cut the emissions of its fleet of both luxury and expedition ships significantly. By transitioning to the low-pollutant fuel voluntarily, the sulphur emissions of the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ fleet will be cut by 80 %. Additionally, the switch to marine gas oil means a reduction in soot and particulates of up to 30 %.

Says Karl J. Pojer, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises: “With our years of expertise in the luxury and expedition segment, we set the highest standards in the industry with our ships and are committed to adhering to strict environmental protection standards. Already we have made significant progress in this context and never stop working to improve even further. These efforts have taken us far beyond the minimum statutory requirements. The decision not to use heavy fuel oil is a significant step towards operating environmentally-conscious cruises and an important investment in our future.”

In 1993 Hapag-Lloyd Cruises stopped using heavy fuel oil in the Arctic of its own volition and only uses marine gas oil with a maximum sulphur content of 0.1 %. At the start of the year, the company announced its decision to transition gradually and stop using heavy fuel oil in its expedition fleet in future. This important development now continues.

Additionally, all new ships of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises – including the EUROPA 2 and the new expedition class – are compatible with cold ironing and have been fitted with modern SCR (selective catalytic reduction) catalytic converters. These converters clean exhaust gases and lower nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 95 %.

The global routes will be planned and carried out with an average speed that is environmentally-friendly, cutting fuel consumption by over one third. The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ fleet is also equipped with seawater desalination technology to produce clean water, as well as with biological sewage treatment plants. The bow thrusters and stabilisers run on environmentally-friendly bio-petroleum.

“I believe that travel is immensely valuable and an important means of developing an understanding of the world. Cruising with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises means understanding nature better, coming face-to-face with it and even feeling a sense of humility before it,” adds Karl J. Pojer.

Cruise with us baby, don't be shy!

We are getting together in Miami to hang out in the Caribbean for 5 nights.

Experience: Spend all day and night in Playa Del Carmen, and the private island club in Bimini with all of your best “travel” friends and take some time to relax and rejuvenate onboard in-between.

The experience is called Rebellious Luxe because there are no kids allowed on the ship, it’s wellness focused, all-inclusive, and the DJ is invited.
